Stave Milling GC –
- Robotic milling machine for vat/tank staves
- Stave milling before jointing
- Wood cost saving and reduction of scrap material
- Define the profile of the stavewood and optimize the machining path to limit material loss
- Eliminates all the risks associated with handling, including musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) that your operators may experience
Technical characteristics of the automatic wood milling machine

Speed
Less than 5 minutes per stave

Machine dimension
6m x 4m

Robot
1X 6-AXIS

Milling spindle

– Components parts of the robotic milling machine –
- 1x 6-AXIS robot
- 1 milling spindle
- Laser measurement
- Safety light curtain
- Trajectory database
- Clamping and referencing
- Tools for curved or straight stavesnced

– Operation of the milling robot –
Two telemeters positioned on the robot’s gripper define the profile of the stavewood and optimize the machining path to limit material loss. A milling cutter on a gripper then scults the sides of the stave wood to transform them into stave and thus ensure the perfect jointing of the wood during assembly.
– Advantages of the stave milling machine compared to manual jointing –
Human benefits
- MSD risk removal
- Improvement of operator safety
Material benefits
- Raw Material saving: the accuracy of the
telemeter and the optimization of the machining path
limit the loss of material - Cleanliness and safety: thanks to a suction
pipe, a protection housing, and a chip recovery tanks
Industrial benefits
- Consistency of machining (speed & quality)
- System easily controllable via the control
screen (HMI) - Management of curved and/or straight
staves
